There was once a dog who lived in a pub. For many years he would inhabit the bar during opening hours and was very popular with the clientèle. One day, however, inevitably, he died. But before burying him, the landlord cut his tail off as a memento and placed it on display behind the bar so that all could remember him.
That night, the landlord was awoken from his sleep by a strange howling noise. He looked up and there stood the ghost of the dog. The dog whimpered and pointed his nose towards where his tail should have been. “You want me to give you you tail back?” the landlord said. The dog barked excitedly at this. “Well I’m sorry” said the landlord, “I’m afraid we can’t retail spirits after hours.”
